About:
Digital is the medium of the time, but analog has an unmistakable sonic signature that many, including me, can't live without. My goal is to take the digital files and give them the life that the analog pathway can give them. I use three Pro Tools HDX systems, crossing into the analog domain only once before crossing back to be recorded. Minimizing the crossovers from digital to analog is what I believe gives my mixes their character. Analog is constant sound, but digital is a bunch of slices of sound stacked together. Whenever a program has to evaluate where to place the slice, there is a potential to get it wrong (jitter). Minimizing the converters usage will minimize the potential of more wrong placements, resulting in a tighter sound.
